Daily Prompt: Interplanet Janetby Krista on December 23, 2013
You get to design your own planet: tell us all about your planet — the weather, the seasons, the inhabitants. Go.
I would design a planet with a hollow interior. The landmasses would be accessible by a series of interconnected tunnels. It would be feasible to drop into a hole and pop-out (up?) the other side of the globe. These tunnels would interconnect so that you could slide-switch-slide from tunnel to tunnel.
Imagine ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’s mine-cart scene, meets ‘The Yellow Submarine’s‘ ‘Sea of Holes’ with a touch of ‘Alice Down the Rabbit Hole;!
A trip from San Francisco to Switzerland could be made with a couple of slips and loops (with a possible transfer point under the Atlantic).
Of course the tubes would be transparent, so you could see other cars careening by (who knows, you might see a friend pass by). The planet’s core would be a veritable Grand Central Station, complete with big clock set to INTERNET TIME (of course).
